Chinese Confinement Food Guide

The exertions of childbirth can significantly weaken any female, especially if she does not take extra care to recuperate and recover her strength.

The confinement period is a time when physical changes that may occur during the nine months of pregnancy, will rejuvenate to the original state of health/condition.

In this period, the mother is believed to be weak and needs special care and nutrition to fully optimize her postnatal recovery and to strengthen her “weakened” post-delivery condition as well as minimizing an assault of ailments from developing later.

It is also a period when the nutritional demands of the mother are high, owing to the recent blood loss from the delivery and the demands of breastfeeding.

A unique diet comprising an array of “quality herbs and fresh ingredients” will speed up the healing of her womb. Such foods will also enhance the replacement of the lost blood and pack the body with nutrients, vitamins and minerals that the mother and the baby will need.

Top:  Black Vinegar Pig Trotters.  This can only be taken after 12 days of delivery.  Hmm, I love the sweet and sour soup!  Good for uterus contractions too.  Also good for Confinement Special Diet too as its sourly taste and ginger helps to expel wind and also uterus contractions.

Bottom:  Home Made paper wrapped chicken.  See how delicious and the chicken meat was fried till just cooked to retain the juice in the chicken.  Its so tender and juicy, season with special herbs and spring onions and wrapped in greased proof paper.
